Will Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson be coming on board as host of the Oscars? According to a tweet, the wrestler-turned-actor was the Academy’s first choice to host the 2019 Oscars, which was revealed after a fan recommended him for the gig. 

“If the Academy is so inclined to line up a great host for next year’s Oscars, just pick @TheRock. Nuff said,” the fan tweeted. 

The Rock then replied, “Ah mahalo dude, I was their first choice to host this year, and my goal was to make it the most fun and entertaining Oscars ever. We all tried hard, but couldn’t make it work since I’m shooting Jumanji. Academy and I were super bummed but maybe one day down the road.”

Oddly enough, Dwayne’s Jumanji costar, Kevin Hart, was tapped as host but then later quit after homophobic tweets resurfaced. 

There will not be a host at this year’s award show.
