Grace Hightower Wants Her Divorce From Robert De Niro To Be Public

Grace Hightower is forcing her estranged husband Robert De Niro to appear in court, which will pull the PR shy actor in front of reporters and cameras — a strategy her camp thinks will speed up the process.

When asked why the divorce is in a public court, Grace’s lawyer Allan Mantel told the outlet, “Ask Mr. De Niro. He’s the one who started the action.” The couple reportedly has a prenuptial agreement, but Allan said he’s “not going to discuss specifics” around the arrangements.

Robert filed for divorce last December. According to a source at Page Six, “This could be resolved very privately and quietly behind closed doors,”  but Grace wants to “drag this out.”

Reportedly, Grace and Robert are battling over visitation and custody of their two children, especially their 7-year-old daughter. Their son is 20 and autistic.

“He just wants to see his kid, but she’s being difficult,” the actor’s assistant explained. “He’s 75. He doesn’t really care about the money.”

But, according to a source, Grace’s strategy of making things public could work against her: “Bob would have preferred to not go to court, and she would do better by not going to court, but she’s forcing Bob to give her less money.”
