Here’s What We Know About The Horrific Michael Jackson Documentary

The four-hour Michael Jackson documentary Finding Neverland is all the buzz this weekend after it premiered at Sundance on Friday. The film exposes the King of Pop using his fame to prey upon young, impressionable boys.

Wade Robson, 36, and James Safechuck, 42, detail how they individually befriended Michael around the Bad period of his career in the mid-to-late 1980s. Soon, they allege, he sexually abused them during separate sleepovers inside his Neverland Ranch.

As Us Weekly reports, Wade and James claim the abuse went on for several years, and that they were sworn to secrecy. Though the singer was taken to court in 1993 and a decade later for assaulting a minor, he convinced both men to testify on his behalf.

The star settled the case in 1993 and was found not guilty in 2005. He died in 2009 at age 50.

The movie shows that the abuse started early. Wade was a kid dancer and Michael Jackson impersonator in Australia when he and his family met the singer backstage at a concert in Brisbane.

The two got close. One night, Wade says Michael performed oral sex on him and put his tongue in his mouth: “He said ‘This is how we show our love.” Meanwhile, James met Michael when he filmed a Pepsi commercial in 1986. As the two got closer and he frequented Michael’s ranch, the singer allegedly taught James how to masturbate. Wade and James were 7 and 10 at the time.

At one point, Michael gave James a wedding ring and said they were married.

Another interesting thing, according to Us Weekly, is that Macaulay Culkin eventually became the center of attention in Michael’s life — getting in the way of Michael and Wade’s relationship.

“Now I was on the sidelines,” Wade recalled. “It was very confusing.” But when Michael was in his lawsuit in 1993, he refocused on Wade to ensure that he would testify on his behalf and deny all charges. He complied. After the settlement, Wade claims Michael anally penetrated him for the first time. He was 14.
