It’s been 50 years since the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. and his dream continues to permeate all our lives. 

Thankfully, the activist spirit at Ebenezer Baptist Church that launched Martin into greatness lives on in Rev. Raphael Gamaliel Warnock, the fifth and youngest senior pastor in the church’s history. Raphael has spent 14 years at the helm, mobilizing residents of all ages and beliefs.

“Martin Luther King Jr. was a spiritual genius, a social change agent and part of the black church tradition,” Raphael told People. “I stand in the long legacy of trying to continue that work.”

While his church remains strong under the leadership of Raphael, our country continues to fight against the same division that haunted Martin’s life.

The activist’s life is a beacon of hope for America, and a reminder that one voice can move mountains. Let today be a reminder of that.
