Matthew McConaughey spoke to People magazine about a mysterious ailment he and his wife have been debating for a while. 

“I’m thinking that I want to get a firmer mattress,” the actor said. “Our mattress presently has a pillowtop — and my back hasn’t been hurting. I took the pillowtop off two nights ago and I sleep on that mattress without it and I woke up the next morning like I’d been bucked from a bull in a rodeo.”

He added, “My lower back was so damn sore. So now my question is: Is that because my back is self-correcting because it was on a firm, firm, firm mattress? Or do I just need the pillowtop?”

He added that he’s going to get physical therapy, but still it’s the “damnedest thing.”

If this is his way of landing a mattress endorsement deal, he’s on the right track!
