Jeff Bezos’ Biological Father Seemed To Not Know Who His Son Was Until 2013

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos came from very humble beginnings, and more info about his life is getting resurfaced amidst a divorce from his wife MacKenzie.

According to People, the billionaire was born to teenage parents in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1964. His father Ted was 18 at the time of Jeff’s birth, while his mother Jacklyn Gise was 17.

Jeff and Ted had an estranged relationship all his life.

Ted died in 2015 at 70 years old. When he was interviewed in 2013 by Brad Stone, it’s clear he was confused at the suggestion that he was the father of the $137 billion company’s CEO.

“Jorgensen said he didn’t know who Jeff Bezos was and was baffled by my suggestion that he was the father of this famous CEO,” Brad wrote in his book The Everything Store: Jeff Bezos and the Age of Amazon.

When Ted, then a bike shop owner, recalled details about Jeff and his mother, Brad reported, “The old man’s face flushed with recognition. ‘Is he still alive?’ he asked, not yet fully comprehending.”

Brad also said that Ted “wasn’t a good father or a husband” in his younger days. Read more about Brad’s book HERE.
