R. Kelly’s Own Daughter Called Him A ‘Monster’

R. Kelly’s estranged daughter is back in a loud way in the wake of Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly documentary, chronicling the alleged abuse by her father on several women and young girls.

In her Instagram story, Buku Abi (real name Joann Kelly) explained why it’s taken so long for her speak up:

“My choice to not speak on him and what he does is for my peace of mind,” she wrote. “My emotional state. And for my healing. I have to do & move in a manner that is best for me.”

She later added that she prays for the families and women affected by her father’s actions: “Trust, I have been affected by all of this,” she added. “However, it’s been very difficult to process it all.”

“The same monster you all confronting me about is my father,” she added, referencing allegations made against the singer in the documentary. “I am well aware of who and what he is. I grew up in that house.”
