Patricia Clarkson Wouldn’t Let Anybody Say Anything ‘Positive’ Leading Up To Globes Win

Patricia Clarkson took home a much-deserved Golden Globe this weekend for her role in Sharp Objects, and apparently she was incredibly superstitious leading up to the moment.

“I won’t let anybody say anything about winning, and if they do I make them turn around three times and spit,” she told reporters in the press room after the win. “I swear to God.”

“Working on Sharp Objects, I had the most wonderful group of people around me. I feel I’ve won for everybody. I’m here tonight to celebrate Sharp Objects,” she began. “It’s exhausting! It is extraordinary.”

Patricia beat out Alex Borstein of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Penélope Cruz of The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, Thandie Newton of Westworld, and Yvonne Strahovski of The Handmaid’s Tale to win her award.

“Hot damn,” she said in her acceptance speech. “It’s a privilege to be here tonight.”
