Doctors Tell Michelle Williams She Needs To Quit Her Broadway Show
Michelle Williams is likely to quit her run on Broadway’s Once On This Island after doctors requested she “take a leave of absence from performing,” according to a statement from the show via People.
The former Destiny’s Child singer has only been in the role of goddess Erzulie for two weeks.
According to Playbill, her understudy Cassondra James will take over until December 26. Beginning the next day, Lea Salonga will take over until the final show on January 6, 2019.
This situation has added weight to an already turbulent year for Michelle. The singer publicly fought depression throughout the year and spent several days in a mental health facility. Her relationship with Chad Johnson also appeared to suffer as the couple, who had their own reality show about their love, called it quits in early December.
