Cardi B Is Apparently Too Famous To Show Up To Court

It’s not every day a person cites their fame as a reason why they can’t appear in court, but our girl Cardi B just did!

When Cardi failed to show up to a court hearing this week over an alleged strip club brawl, the judge ultimately threatened to have her arrested if she skips the next appearance.

In fact, Queens Criminal Court Judge Sean Dunn told Cardi B’s lawyer: “I want you to convey to her that it’s not acceptable that she’s not here today… You should inform her that if she doesn’t show up, that unless circumstances change, it’s very likely that the court will issue a bench warrant for her arrest.”

Judge Dunn offered a new date of December 7 for an appearance. But Cardi’s lawyer, Jeff Kern, is apparently used her fame as the cause of her absence. “As you probably know she is a fairly notable hip-hop artist,” the lawyer stated in court, according to Page Six. “My client knew the date but there was a previously scheduled commitment for today and tomorrow.”

The judge left Cardi off with a warning. And Jeff later told reporters outside the courtroom: “You all need to understand this is not about her saying, ‘Screw going to court. I got things to do. I’m important.’ She has managers, she has business people, she has things scheduled. So it’s not like we can just say, ‘Hey you got to come to court on Monday.’”
