Channing Tatum Confirms Amanda Bynes Fought To Cast Him in ‘She’s the Man’

Channing Tatum is speaking out about Amanda Bynes, revealing to Entertainment Tonight that it indeed was she who fought to cast him in their hit flick, She’s the Man.

“I love her,” he said of Amanda “I guess she sort of told me [that she fought to get me in the movie]. I love her.” Before She’s the Man, Channing had only starred in a Mountain Dew commercial and smaller films. Later he’d star in Step Up.

Amanda spoke about casting Channing in the film in her recent interview with Paper magazine:

“I totally fought for Channing [to get cast in] that movie because he wasn’t famous yet,” she said. “He’d just done a Mountain Dew commercial and I was like, ‘This guy’s a star — every girl will love him!’ But [the producers] were like, ‘He’s so much older than all of you!’ And I was like, ‘It doesn’t matter! Trust me!'”

When thinking about her performance in the movie, Channing told ET, “She was just so alive. You never knew what was going to come out her mouth, she was just on fire… I haven’t seen her in so long. I love you, Amanda, and I hope you’re doing well.”
