Rebel Wilson Apologizes For Mistakenly Saying She’s The First Plus Sized Rom-Com Star
People are ticked at Rebel Wilson after she claimed to be the “first-ever plus sized” lead of a romantic comedy — starring in the upcoming movie Isn’t It Romantic.
“I’m proud to be the first-ever plus-sized girl to be the star of a romantic comedy,” she told Ellen DeGeneres soon after the trailer premiered. From there, social media wasn’t too happy. People pointed out movies like Beauty Shop, Just Wright and Last Holliday with Queen Latifah, and Phat Girlz with Mo’Nique.
Then, Monique got in the fight.
Hey girl! Yeah I of course know of these movies but it was questionable as to whether: 1. Technically those actresses were plus size when filming those movies or 2. Technically those films are catorgorized/billed as a studio rom-com with a sole lead. So there’s a slight grey area
