Jennifer Lopez Says Dating Ben Affleck Was ‘Worse’ Than A-Rod
Jennifer Lopez is very happy with boyfriend Alex Rodriguez, but in a new interview with InStyle the icon talks about what it was like dating Ben Affleck — when the former couple was known as “Bennifer.”
“It was actually worse then,” she said, speaking on the turbulence of dating in the spotlight. Jen and Ben got engaged in 2002 but later postponed their wedding days before things were set. Then they split in 2004.
“It was just crazy,” she added of the media circus. “Now at least I can show you who I am a little bit. Back then you just believed anything you read on the cover of a tabloid. Many times it wasn’t true, or it was like a third of the truth.”
Today, she says it’s difficult to be a celebrity in 2018, “but they didn’t live through the tabloid era. Now I sound like my mom. ‘I used to walk uphill to school, before there were cars!’”
