Jamie Lee Curtis Made $8,000 To Do The Original ‘Halloween’

Forty years ago, Jamie Lee Curtis made $8,000 at 19 years old to do the original Halloween film. Now 59, she opened up to People magazine and revealed exactly what she did with that cash.

“All the sudden, I was going to JC Penney and buying Laurie’s wardrobe with $200,” she quipped. Jamie added that the cast filmed the movie out of one shared Winnebago RV.

“There were cabinets in the Winnebago,” she remembered. “Each girl got a drawer with her name on it to put her purse in. The makeup and the hair and the wardrobe were all in this one Winnebago that we all shared.”

As for the crew, “Twenty people, maybe 15,” said Jamie. “The oldest person was 30. Every other person was under 30. It was magic. A friend of somebody cooked the food each day and we all ate on the ground together.”

Of course, the movie went on to make $47 million at the box office. Its latest sequel broke records on its opening weekend, making $78 million domestically. Not bad.
