Ansel Elgort Will Star As Tony In Steven Spielberg’s ‘West Side Story’
Steven Spielberg found his Tony in Ansel Elgort, who was recently nominated for a Golden Globe for Baby Driver, as well as 2014’s The Fault In Our Stars.
The revival is set to begin filming next summer, and is penned by Tony Kushner based on the original 1957 musical by Arthur Laurents and Stephen Sondheim. Of course, the musical was one of the most successful in Broadway history.
West Side Story producers auditioned thousands of actors and dancers in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, and Puerto Rico in recent months. While many fans are interested in seeing the latest version, there are always going to be theater snobs who don’t want change. But hey, it’s 2018. We’re SO down for this.
