When director Glenn Weiss decided to pop the question to his now-fiancee during his Emmy acceptance speech, no one in his family knew — not even his daughters! His 17- and 21-year-old daughters watched the whole thing in real time. 

“They were completely shocked and blindsided,” a source told Page Six. “He could have been a man and gone to them first and said, ‘Hey, I’m planning on doing this. I didn’t want you to be surprised.’ ”

The insider added, “He’s coming across as this great romantic hero, but it was pretty thoughtless.” Other insiders say his ex-wife also works in the TV industry, and he and fiancee Jan Svendsen’s romance stunned the community when it became public. While he told reporters they’ve been together “I don’t know — 10 years or so,” court records show he and his ex began divorce proceedings in 2008. 

An insider said they were surprised that he would want to invite so much scrutiny about his personal life.
