Earlier this month, George Clooney was involved in a serious motor-scooter accident on the Italian island of Sardinia. He was placed in the hospital for several days, and was released with non-life-threatening injuries.

“Amal wouldn’t leave his side,” a source said to People. “It was obvious that she was concerned.”

Their families “were very worried and on the telephone reassuring one another, saying how lucky George was,” another close source said. “He could have been killed.”

They added, “After being with them, you realize what a truly loving couple they are.”
