The world was horrified at 2017’s Manchester attack that happened at Ariana Grande’s concert. It was a tough time for the singer, and recently her fiancee Pete Davidson made a somewhat tone deaf joke about the event.

According to the UK’s Mirror, Pete made a joke during a Puerto Rico hurricane relief event in the fall (before he and Ariana were dating). He joked during a set, “Britney Spears didn’t have a terrorist attack at her concert.”

A mother of one of the teens killed in the attack wrote, “For anyone to joke about this situation is disgusting and I think he should publicly apologize for it,” she told the Mirror. “The families will find it equally as disgusting.”

Last week, a fan wrote: “I don’t know why she is still with Pete.” That’s when Ariana wrote back:

“This has been v tough & conflicting on my heart. he uses comedy to help ppl feel better ab how f-ed up things in this world are.”

She added of Pete, whose father was killed in 9/11: “We all deal w trauma differently. I of course didn’t find it funny. it was months ago & his intention wasn’t/ is never malicious but it was unfortunate.”
