Grammys Will Now Have 8 Nominees In Top Categories, Instead Of 5

The Grammy Awards announced that their number of nominees in top categories are extending from five to eight to “better reflect the large number of entries in these categories and allow voters greater flexibility when selecting this year’s best recordings.”

Album of the year, song of the year, record of the year and best new artist will now have eight nominees starting next year. The change comes months after the Grammys were criticized for the lack of women nominees at this year’s awards show.

The Awards have always been criticized for a lack of diversity, but hopefully now with the added nominees, the world will be able to see other noble candidates.
