Stephen Colbert Comes After Trump For Denying Detained Immigrants Due Process

Stephen Colbert came after Donald Trump during his opening monologue on The Late Show last night, poignant out that detained migrants aren’t getting due process.

“There’s still no announcement of what they’re gonna do to put these stolen kids back together with their parents and no indication that they could successfully do so,” he said of the children who have been separated from their families at the U.S. border.

The host pointed out that the Supreme Court has maintained “the due process requirements of the Fifth and 14th Amendments apply to all persons, including those in the U.S. unlawfully.” He added, “Here’s the thing: If you deny anyone due process, you deny everyone due process. At that point, we’re all undocumented immigrants because if you can’t show your documents to a judge, your passport is as useless as your Blockbuster card. Being identified as a suspect is the same as being guilty.”
