Jane the Virgin star, Gina Rodriguez, is using her Emmy money to send an undocumented student to college.

The money is pulled from the budget to campaign for actors to be nominated for an Emmy. It can be pretty expensive, but this year Gina convinced The CW to do something different. Instead of campaigning for her to get a nomination, they’re using that piece of the budget toward a scholarship for an undocumented high school student.

Gina partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles to locate a Latinx high school student who plans to attend Princeton University in the fall. “For Your Consideration is a bizarre dance,” the star told The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported the news. “Whatever you do requires an insane amount of money.”

“Our show has always jumped at any opportunity to help me do something for the Latinx community,” she said. “So I asked my showrunner, Jennie [Snyder Urman], if we could do something different with the money this year.”

You go, Gina!
