Fundraiser Reuniting Migrant Parents With Children Already Raised Over $6 Million

A Facebook campaign hoping to reunite parents and children that have been separated due to unspeakable detention centers has raised over $6 million just a few days.

The campaign was started by Charlotte and Dave Willner, who had started the campaign last weekend to raise $1,500 to do what they could do after seeing a photo of a 2-year-old being taken away from her mother.

The campaign was called “Reunite an immigrant parent with their child,” and the money is going to the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services, a nonprofit organization in Texas that gives immigrant and refugee families legal representation in the state.

“We’ve had moments of ecstasy and there have been a lot of tears in response to this outpouring of support,” Johnathan Ryan, executive director of the nonprofit, said. “But those moments of joy are curtailed by a realization of great responsibility.”
