Promoter Behind Fyre Festival Was Caught Scamming Attendees, A Second Time

This guy needs to take a back seat.

Billy McFarland, the promoter behind the Fyre Festival who’d been caught defrauding people and was arrested last year, was caught doing the same thing and was rearrested this week.

Billy apparently earned $100,000 by selling fake tickets to exclusive fashion, music, and sporting events (all of which didn’t exist) through NYC VIP Access, a company he controlled. He was charged with one count of wire fraud and one count of money laundering and faces a maximum of 40 years in prison if convicted, according to reports.

The 26-year-old started the scheme last year, only months after he was arrested for defrauding investors out of $24 million.
