Kate Middleton went into labor this morning, and welcomed her third baby, a boy, Kensington Palace confirmed on Monday.

“Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 11:01hrs,” the palace announced in an official statement. “The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”

Additionally, the other members of the royal family have “been informed and are delighted with the news.”

This baby is the fifth in line of succession to the throne, behind Princess Charlotte, 3, and brother Prince George, 4. Grandfather Prince Charles, 69, is first in line, followed by William, 35.
