Marc Jacobs Cuts Down His Staff In A Major Way

Apparently Marc Jacobs is cleaning house. The designer is letting staffers go over the last few weeks, including John Targon, who joined the company months ago to reportedly build out the label’s lower-priced goods.

Marc dismissed Targon and his team, while another insider tells us he’s also gotten rid of shoe-design staff, reports Page Six. John was the first major hire by the brand’s CEO, Eric Marechalle, who joined the company in 2017.

A source that when it came to John, who was “creative director of contemporary,” it was a “difference in vision. It seemed like it came down to a control thing with Marc, and there wasn’t space for another star. It’s been hard for everyone.”

Another source says that since getting engaged, Marc “on a kick” and is “superpositive. He was having issues and wasn’t superinvolved . . . Now he is getting back into gear and taking the reins.”
