Fans Nearly Broke Down Merriam-Webster Searching Tyler Perry’s Latest Film Title

Tyler Perry has a new film coming out called Acrimony, which has sent die-hard fans searching their dictionaries to find out what it means.

For the record, “acrimony” means “bitterness or ill feeling.” Totally like a Tyler Perry film premise.

Page Six reports that Merriam-Webster reports that “acrimony” has been among its most-looked-up words online in March after an intense trailer for the film began airing. The film stars Taraji P. Henson as a woman sick and tired of standing by her devious man.

“I was watching CNN and they described our president as ‘acrimonious’ — so I looked it up,” Tyler told Page Six. “I wanted it to describe who Melinda [the character played by Henson] was, and when I found the word I knew it had to be the title of my movie.”
