After National Enquirer and Radar Online posted articles alleging Richard Simmons was transitioning, the workout guru sued them. The two outlets then sought a $200K in a motion filed in January.

This week, The LA Times reports he’s now ordered to pay the media outlets’ attorneys’ fees as well as American Media, its publisher.

Richard alleged that, while he holds no personal ill-feelings toward the transgender community, the articles were false and defamatory to his character. Simmons’ lawyers argued that as a public figure, he has a legal right to “not be portrayed as someone he is not.” But the judge ruled that alleging someone is trans is not defamatory, so the case was dismissed.
