Tony-Winner Ruthie Ann Miles Injured, Daughter Killed, In Brooklyn Car Crash

The NYC theater community is mourning today as Tony-winning Broadway star Ruthie Ann Miles (The King and I) and her 4-year-old daughter were allegedly struck by a drunk driver who ran a red light in Brooklyn.

Two children — 1-year-old Joshua Lew and 4-year-old Abigail Blumenstein, Miles’ daughter — were pronounced dead upon their arrival at Methodist Hospital, police said.

Ruthie has been identified by family and friends on a GoFundMe page as one of three non-fatal victims of the crash.

The NYPD source told People magazine that after running the red light, the driver allegedly continued down the street until crashing into some parked cars. The 1-year-old’s stroller was dragged halfway down the street with the 1-year-old in it, according to the source. The driver is allegedly claiming she had a seizure, says the source.
