Harvey Weinstein’s lawyers say that Jennifer Lawrence and Meryl Streep still think he’s a good guy, despite the mountain of sexual assault allegations against him. The claim was written in court papers, as an attempt to keep actresses from filing a class action suit.

Here plaintiffs seek a nationwide class of ‘all women who met with Harvey Weinstein in person to audition for or to discuss involvement in a project to be produced or distributed by either The Weinstein Company Holdings or Miramax,’” the attorneys say in court papers filed Tuesday.

“These proposed class definitions are fatally overbroad as to be not ascertainable,” the attorneys state.

“As drafted, they would include all women who ever met with Weinstein, regardless of whether they claimed to have suffered any identifiable harm as a result of that meeting,” Kupferstein and Manuel say.

“Such women would include, presumably, Jennifer Lawrence, who told Oprah Winfrey she had known Weinstein since she was 20 years old and said ‘he had only ever been nice to me,’ and Meryl Streep, who stated publicly that Weinstein had always been respectful to her in their working relationship,” the lawyers add.
