Stephen Colbert’s New Animated Series Makes Donald Trump A Literal Cartoon
It’s safe to say that Stephen Colbert is a firm critic of Donald Trump, and in a 10-episode animated series called Our Cartoon President debuting on Showtime on Feb. 11, Colbert executive produced his ideas into a fine format even The Donald can understand.
“There’s nothing in that book that’s not in our show, and we just guessed,” Stephen said of the Fire & Fury book in comparison to his cartoon series. “The great thing about the Trump Administration is whatever you imagine, you’re right.”
The opening scene to each episode will be the last element animated, allowing the show to be more topical. “In a pinch, tomorrow’s show could have a cold open all about how he’s a very stable genius,” he said, “which is what we’re trying to capture with this show — just how genius he is.”
