One year after Mariah Carey’s New Year’s Eve fiasco where she lipsang and stumbled her way through to the end, ultimately getting caught doing both, she returned to the stage to prove how bright her star actually shines.

“She was ready to play,” a source close to the star told Us Weekly exclusively. “She wanted to prove herself.”

Mariah’s rendition of “Vision of Love” and “Hero” went by without too much of a kerfuffle. “She redeemed herself,” the insider said. “They had everything on lock.”

At one point she stopped singing and said, “They told me there would be tea. Oh, it’s a disaster! OK, well, we’ll just have to rough it. I’m going to be like everybody else, with no hot tea.”
