When Prince Harry said to Barack Obama during a radio interview that the royal family is “the family I supposed that she’s never had,” referencing his fiancee Meghan Markle, the comments didn’t exactly roll off the shoulders of Meghan’s half-sister, Samantha Grant.

Samantha took to Twitter: “Actually she has a large family who were always there with her and for her. Our household was very normal and when dad and Doria divorced, we all made it so it was like she had two houses. No one was estranged, she was just too busy … Meg’s family (our family) is complete with sister, brother, aunts, uncles, cousins, and the glue of our family, our amazing completely self-sacrificing father. She always had this family … Marrying merely extends it.”

Samantha had also previously released a book about growing up with Meghan called The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister, telling Page Six of the book:

“It honors Meg and it looks at the implementation of the Civil Rights Act … and how I felt watching the media abuse my sister along racial lines. Had it had a negative tone, Meg’s attorney’s would have injuncted it … I am not capitalizing on my sister’s fame. This is saying something on a subject that means a lot to me. It’s warm, witty and historically meaningful … I think my sister, Harry and the royal family will be happy with the book.”
