Jane Fonda is 80 years old, and she is reflecting back on her life in a new interview with People.

“I never pictured 30,” the Oscar winner said. “I assumed I wouldn’t live very long and that I would die lonely and an addict of some sort… I didn’t think if I did live this long, that I would be vibrant and healthy and still working. I’m grateful.”

She also shared a bit of love advice: “You want to be seen,” she emphasized. “You want to be safe. You want to be celebrated. If you don’t feel seen, safe or celebrated, get out.”

“My family has a long timeline of depressives in it,” she added. “So to my children I would say, ‘Try not to marry somebody who is going to make that worse.’”
