Street Artist Comes After Meryl Streep With ‘She Knew’ Messages

A Los Angeles-based artist is targeting Meryl Streep by displaying messages on street art reading “She Knew” over the eyes of pictures of the actress.

The art was placed near the SAG-AFTRA building, Hollywood and Highland complex, and in Pasadena near Meryl’s home. These posters came after Rose McGowan called out Meryl for being silent, accusing her of knowing what was happening throughout Weinstein’s sexual assault escapades.

“It hurt to be attacked by [McGowan] … but I want to let her know I did not know about Weinstein’s crimes, not in the ’90s when he attacked her, or through subsequent decades when he proceeded to attack others,” Meryl said in a statement. “I wasn’t deliberately silent. I didn’t know. I don’t tacitly approve of rape … I don’t like young women being assaulted. I didn’t know this was happening.”
