The dynamic duo that once ruled morning television, Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa, might have friction these days. According to what Kelly said to The New York Times, Regis didn’t talk to her off camera.

“Regis had a mandate: Absolutely no talking off-camera,” she said. “He had almost a superstition about it. You save it for the show. I’d be like, ‘Good morning,’ and he’d say, ‘Save it for the air!’”

Her new cohost, Ryan Seacrest, according to her, is the future of ABC: “He’s the future of the franchise. He’s the future of ABC.”
