The latest season of The Crown is taking place in the early 1960s, but the show’s star Matt Smith is already thinking of a future season that will include Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.

During this week’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the actor suggested Selena Gomez to play the first American princess.

“Who’s that singer? Who’s the singer who goes out with Justin Bieber? Selena Gomez!” he said.

“You love Selena Gomez,” his costar Claire Foy quipped before he double-downed on his decision saying, “She’s playing Meghan Markle!”
