The First American Woman Has Won The NYC Marathon Since 1977!

U.S runner Shalane Flanagan has won the NYC Marathon, the first woman to have won since 1977!

Shalane placed second in 2010 at around two hours, 26 minutes and 53 seconds. This time, she took first place and she couldn’t have been more happy!

“It’s indescribable. It’s a moment I’m trying to soak up and savor,” she said after the win.

The last U.S. woman to win the marathon was Miki Gorman, who won both in 1976 and 1977.
