Bette Midler Says The Upcoming ‘Hocus Pocus’ Remake Is Going To be ‘CHEAP!’

You can’t minimize the impact Hocus Pocus has had on American culture (especially on Halloween, duh!).

Its star Bette Midler is now opening up about the upcoming Disney Channel remake, telling People magazine, “I know it’s cheap. It’s going to be cheap!”

“I’m not sure what they’re going to do with my character,” she said. “My character is very, very broad and I don’t know who they’re going to find to play that.”

The new movie is being written by Scarlett Lacey, and original producer David Kirschner is still signed on. Neither of the original cast (Bette, Kathy Najimy, Sarah Jessica Parker) will be involved, despite all of them expressing interest in the past.

Don’t expect a cameo anytime soon.
