Earlier today reports surfaced declaring Tom Petty had died of a heart attack.  The Los Angeles Police Department clarified that it CANNOT confirm his death.  We do know that Tom was hospitalized after suffering full cardiac arrest, according to TMZ, but it seems that he is not dead.

The legendary musician was found unconscious and not breathing at his Malibu home Sunday night. According to TMZ, he was taken to UCLA Santa Monica Hospital and put on life support.

LAPD said the initial information was inadvertently provided to some media sources and apologized for “any inconvenience” in the reporting.

His daughter took to Instagram to vent and express her anger toward the media, especially Rolling Stone Magazine.
