Guess What They Used as a Stand-In for James Franco’s Semen in ‘The Deuce’
James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal’s new HBO series The Deuce is getting a lot of attention due to its 1970s spotlight on the rise of the porn industry. Obviously, with that comes some very intense sex scenes. And it’s HBO, so they can do what they want!
Series co-creators and executive producers David Simon and George Pelecanos told Page Six that a scene — which will undoubtedly be famous — featuring James Franco’s semen was actually Campbell’s cream of potato soup! LOL
“[Price] knows that they actually threw that kind of soup on people to simulate ejaculation,” George explained.
Simon added, “In the research, we found out there are a couple desperate remedies when male performers failed to restrain themselves in sex sufficiently.”
Writer Richard Price also said: “I guess it took the stress off multiple takes of the ‘money shot’ although there was a certain risk in regards to excessive starch,” and, “I wonder if it boosted sales of canned vichyssoise in Times Square.”
