After a super successful marketing campaign (you know you’ve seen those videos running around) with the movie It, New Line studios is now preparing for a sequel.

The movie opens on Friday, and it’s pretty much guaranteed millions of people will be flocking to the theater to be scared off their asses! While screenwriter Gary Dauberman is set to return to write the sequel, director Andy Muschietti has yet to finalize any deals.

As The Hollywood Reporter explains, the movie “tells of a group of friends who band together to defeat their small town’s demon — first as kids, and then a second time as adults.”

Stephan King’s original book goes back and forth between the young and older characters, but the new movie focuses on the kids and is set in the past (in the book, the past was the 1950s; the movie’s past is the 1980s, THR points out).

The second movie is to be set in the present and will focus on the adults that the kids have become.
