It’s Now Confirmed That Purple Was, In Fact, Prince’s Favorite Color
Prince’s half-sister Sharon Nelson confirmed what most fans knew all along.
In a statement to The Associate Press on Thursday, Sharon said, “contrary to what has been said, purple was and is Prince’s color.” This is contrary to what Prince’s full sibling, Tyka Nelson, said to the London Evening Standard, reporting that Prince’s favorite color was actually orange.
Sharon said, he “was fond of many colors in the rainbow, he especially loved the color purple because it represented royalty.” She also said “the color purple always made him feel Princely.”
A shade of purple named for Prince was announced earlier this month. The “Purple Rain” hue created by the Pantone Color Institute was dubbed “Love Symbol #2.”
