Mourners Gather Around Princess Diana’s Death Site, 20 Years Later

It’s crazy that it’s been 20 years since the death of Princess Diana, and mourners are gathering at the site of her infamous car crash to remember the people’s princess.

Associated Press reports that the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, arrived at the Alma Tunnel in Paris around 7 a.m. to lay a bouquet of flowers.

A British woman named Linda Grant told AP, “It’s like it was yesterday still, which means she is still here in our hearts,” Grant said. “She has never gone away and she never will. She never will.”

Yvette Demilio, a French woman at the site, remembered Diana as “a modern mother with a strong character and a strong heart. She was also a fashion icon and, it is true, I loved her a lot.”

The 1997 crash killed Diana, her boyfriend Dodi Fayed, and their driver Henri Paul.
