Taylor Swift to Testify in a Groping Case Against Radio Host David Mueller

Four years ago, Taylor Swift accused former disc jockey David Mueller of groping her backstage of a photo session. Now, he’s suing her saying he was falsely accused and jury selection is to begin this week. He’s seeking up to $3 million in damages.

Swift countersued, claiming sexual assault, The Hollywood Reporter reports, setting up the civil trial where she is expected to testify amid tightened courthouse security. Opening statements could begin Tuesday in the case that could last two weeks. Court documents say it is unlikely that either side will settle.

Taylor is clearly making a statement, seeking a verdict of only $1 to show that it’s not about money.

She wants to serve “as an example to other women who may resist publicly reliving similar outrageous and humiliating acts,” the lawsuit says.

Her attorney says she never went to police and tried to keep the situation “discreet and quiet and confidential” but was upset by Mueller’s claim that “for some reason she might have some incentive to actually fabricate this story.”
