Broadway & Music Legend Barbara Cook Dies at 89

Renowned Broadway legend Barbara Cook has died at age 89 of respiratory failure.

Barbara was a shining soprano who spent nearly six decades on stage. Her voice inspired some of the most talented singers we know today, including Audra McDonald, Kelli O’Hara, and Kristin Chenoweth.

Barbara originated the role of Marian in The Music Man, which launched her song “Till there Was You” to become a standard in the music repertoire. Her voice and spirit will be deeply missed.

According to her publicist, her last meal was vanilla ice cream.
