Paris Hilton Schools Us On Making Money As a Party Girl

Say what you want about Paris Hilton, the girl has built a brand around partying and has been ranking in the dough since the early 2000s, when she shot to fame in The Simple Life.

The 36-year old went back to Ibiza, Spain to host an event Foam & Diamonds. She spoke to Entertainment Weekly about her career and how she maintains her brand.

On her squad (Katy Perry, Iggy Azalea, Sofia Richie, and Bella Thorne):I love all those girls. We’ve hung out a lot of times, and they’re amazing and so much fun, and I especially love having people come over to my house because it’s more private… My squad used to be me and my sister [Nicky Hilton Rothschild] and my cousins and Nicole [Richie] and everyone, but now everyone’s growing up. My sister has her baby and lives in New York, so it’s like the squad [laughs] is basically my boyfriend, me, and the puppies. But yeah, I love those girls. They’re all so much fun, they’re all so beautiful, and it’s really nice to have friends like that around; people you know just love you for you, and they don’t need anything from you. Because it’s hard in Hollywood, especially — you don’t know what people’s intentions are, why they want to be your friend.”

On a possible revival of The Simple Life:

“They actually have approached me about that idea. I feel like the show was so amazing, just the first of its time. I don’t know how you could recreate that. It was so much fun, but I feel like we’ve already done it. I just don’t think it would be the same. I get offered reality shows every day, and I turn them down. If I were to ever do something again, it would have to be something very new and innovative and different. But I love The Simple Life. I think it’s hilarious, and my boyfriend and I watch it all the time. Nicole is one of the funniest people in the world on her new show, [Great News on NBC]. She is hilarious on it. I’ve been watching it, and I really am so proud of her. She just killed it on that show.”

On building her brand:

“Back when I was a teenager, people were like, ‘Oh my God, what’s she wearing? What’s she doing? What’s she saying?’ Now we see it all coming back, and everyone’s calling me the OG, and it’s like, Yeah. It feels really good. I feel just proud. Because I always was original, and I always believed in myself and never, never care what anyone says about me. Even with my fans, a lot of them say, ‘The one thing you taught me is to not care what anyone says about me and to believe in myself.’ Now seeing everything, it’s a really amazing feeling, because I love that I can be a role model as a businesswoman, as a brand, as a person. Young people being inspired by it [gives me] a really magical feeling.”
