Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. was arrested this week after allegedly attacking a woman with a golf club.

According to The Charleston Gazette-Mail, Eugene was booked on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery and domestic assault.

TMZ reports that the argument between he and his partner allegedly began over concerns of who’d take care of their child (who is 6 months old). It turned violent rather quickly when he supposedly slapped her then hit her under the eye with a golf club.

However, Eugene’s manager said he was the one who was attacked first with a golf club, then a knife:

“In defending myself, she obtained some bruises and swelling on her face,” Eugene said. “I did not strike her… I was raised to protect women, and if not provoked and feeling I was in danger, I would never have defended myself in this manner.”
