ISIS Is Using Scenes From Hollywood Movies to Recruit Members

According to Hollywood Reporter, stolen footage and copied scenes from films like American Sniper and Hunger Games are being incorporated into ISIS’s recruiting efforts.

Apparently, footage from Clint Eastwood’s Flags of Our Fathers is inside a 22-minute propaganda short film called Healing of the Believers’ Chests, which was made by ISIS. Clint is also recreated in another video called Shoot to Redeem Yourself 2.

Lara Pham, deputy director of the Counter Extremism Project, an organization analyzing over 1,200 films made by ISIS media companies said, the group is “deliberately and strategically using [Hollywood] references… I haven’t found anything suggesting Hollywood is aware of this, but I’m sure plenty of individuals would be concerned.”

These videos are shared through social media and YouTube.

“ISIS fighters are forbidden to watch American movies,” noted Lara, “which is ironic, since they use these images to attract people to their cause.”

Other scenes they supposedly recreate are when the Eiffel Tower crumbles to the ground in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.
