After it was announced that Katy Perry’s supposed $25 million paycheck is higher than any other male judge in American Idol history, other stars getting offers seem to not be backing down to match it — including Ryan Seacrest.

According to Page Six, sources say ABC initially offered Ryan over $10 million to host the reboot.

“[He] was suddenly asking himself why he would come back for a 16th season at a salary [much smaller than that] of the newcomer judge,” Richard Rushfield, author of American Idol: The Untold Story wrote in his email newsletter, “The Ankler.”

Though a network insider said Katy isn’t getting $25 million, the singer boasted on 103.5 KTU a few weeks ago that “I’m really proud that, as a woman, I got paid. And you know why? I got paid, like, more than like pretty much any guy that’s been on that show.”

A source close to the negotiations told Page Six, “Ryan isn’t pleased with the protracted negotiations. But he is hopeful that a deal can be reached given his affection for the show.”
