Tom Cruise broke some news that might take your breath away.

While promoting his upcoming film, The Mummy, on Australia’s Sunrise, the actor confirmed that there will in fact be a Top Gun 2.

A sequel to the 1986 blockbuster hit has been in discussion for quite some time, but apparently it is now actually in the works. Tom said, “It’s true, yeah it’s true. You know what? I’m going to start filming it probably in the next year. I know, it’s happening, it is definitely happening.” The star then added, ‘You’re the first people that I’ve really said it [to], you asked me and so I’m telling you. This is going to happen.”

The sequel has been a goal for a while for Tom and producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who also produced the original film. The two got together in January of 2016 to discuss the project, and when Jerry tweeted a photo of them, the plans really began to take flight. (See what we did there?)

Last year on The Graham Norton Show, Tom said the pair were in the beginning stages of development. He said, “We’re discussing it. We’re trying to figure it out. I’d love to work on it if we can figure it out.”

The action star also talked about the not-so-glamorous side of those famous plane scenes. He said, “When you first start flying you get sick, like properly sick, like fill a bag sick,” but added that he still “couldn’t wait to fly.”
